This lot is part of the Port Morris Harlem Riverfront Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA), designated in April 2015 as part of New York State's Brownfield Opportunity Area program. This BOA includes over 200 acres in Port Morris near the Harlem River. The South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (SoBRO) developed the successful BOA proposal, which seeks to redevelop former industrial properties for residential and commercial use, remove environmentally hazardous substances, and increase public access to the Harlem River waterfront.
