Why is this lot here?
We think this lot is vacant because:

Housing Preservation and Development is not granting interim licenses now. The only way to have the community access this lot is by getting it transferred to another agency. Look below for Pathways that will guide you.

I've tried to reach out to the other organizier here but I haven't heard back. I'm curious about any updates. ~ j
A new organizer just signed up on the lot page, and I sent them this:
Thanks for signing up on the lot page! Last time we checked, NYC Housing Preservation and Development has no plans for this vacant public lot. There's a great opportunity for neighbors to make something here!
Here is something you can do immediately: get your neighbors to sign a petition in support of a garden here! I have attached a PDF and added a file you can print and use to the lot’s page: http://livinglotsnyc.org/media/files/Copy_of_Example_Petition_-_Sheet1_3.pdf
& here are your next steps:
Put together a proposal for the a garden on this lot. You will need:
(1) a name
(2) a written statement of your vision
(3) a sketch of how you think the land would be usedGet neighbors to support this proposal and sign up to become volunteer garden stewards in the future; you will need at least 10 neighbors to sign up as future volunteers; it would be great to also have 100 supporter signatures to show your community board.
Present, together with your neighbors, to the Community Board for their support; you will be asking them for a letter addressed to the Parks Department requesting they take jurisdiction. Contact your community board to find out how to get on the agenda for an upcoming meeting: Community District Brooklyn 4 ( bk04@cb.nyc.gov / 718-628-8400 ), district manager: Nadine Whitted
Present your proposal package to GreenThumb.
Keep us posted on your progress! You can post updates to the lot page. Let us know how we can help you.
We heard from HPD on Fri, 30 Oct 2015 that there are no plans for this lot. This is a great opportunity to start organizing here!
