Information about this lot
Why is this lot here?
We think this lot is vacant because:
Housing Preservation and Development is not granting interim licenses now. The only way to have the community access this lot is by getting it transferred to another agency. Look below for Pathways that will guide you.
This lot is part of the Coney Island I urban renewal plan.
I spoke to Lin at HPD who said that HPD would be unlikely to lend it out: it's next to a Department of Citywide Administrative Services-lot and other HPD-owned lot, so there’s plenty of room to build. There’s a sponsor and negotiations are being worked out, but there is no start date for construction.
I got a call from a neighbor named Franco who's interested in starting a garden here. I called HPD but they need to get more details on this site, as they think it might be apart of a RFP.
In the meantime, Franco's going to start talking to his neighbors and seeing who's on board.
This lot is owned by HPD. Visit http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/my_community.jsp to view any open Request for Proposals (RFPs) for the lot.
