Hello!

My name is Eliana Pransky and I am a student at Parsons School of Design. I am doing a joint thesis project for my senior year with Kat Collier. And we need your help!

We are interested in studying the lack of nature in New York City. We want to figure out how to urge urban dwellers to form a relationship with nature and how to take advantage of unused space in NYC. We will be creating an immersive environment that shows the possibilities and many benefits of empty lots. We are focusing specifically on insects as a lens to be experienced through.

Our physical structure will be a 4' x 4' wooden cube, suspended 3' feet off the ground. Inside we will have created a scaled-up grassy landscape, all made out of paper. In order to experience the space, one will have to crawl under the structure and peep their head through a hole. The space is supposed to make people feel like insects, the often overlooked and underestimated creatures that are at the base of each and every ecosystem.

We are asking if it would be possible to showcase this project on April 23rd (the day after Earth Day) in your garden. It could be a potential way of drawing people to the garden and promote its benefits.

If you need more information or want to schedule possible time to meet, feel free to contact us anytime through email or phone. Kat's number is 813-455-9120 and my number is 858-740-1475.

Our best,
Eliana Pransky and Kat Collier
